Russia strikes Ukraine with four missiles, over 100 drones

On August 6, Russian forces initiated an attack on Ukraine, targeting the country with four missiles and over 100 drones. The missile strikes originated from occupied Crimea, the Black Sea, and various locations in Russia, including Kursk, Millerovo, and Oryol, as well as occupied Donetsk and Hvardiyske in occupied Crimea. In addition to the missiles, Russian forces launched 101 Shahed attack drones, along with Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones.

As of 9 a.m. on August 6, Ukrainian air defenses had successfully intercepted and neutralized 66 of the enemy drones, protecting the northern, southern, and eastern parts of Ukraine. However, 29 attack drones and one Onyx missile successfully struck 18 locations, causing damage and leaving debris in five additional locations. The remaining missiles did not reach their intended targets, and the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

The overnight missile barrage followed a particularly devastating Russian attack on August 5, when Russia launched four Zircon/Onyx anti-ship missiles and 24 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles. These strikes, which occurred the previous night into August 5, resulted in 17 deaths and 44 injuries in Kyiv and surrounding regions. The primary targets of Russian strikes in Ukraine were primarily civilian warehouse facilities, although infrastructure and a railway station were also hit.
