Real Madrid sign Diomande in deal worth up to £120m

Real Madrid have made a significant investment by signing 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig for a fee of up to £120m (140m euros). The young talent has committed to a seven-year contract, potentially surpassing the £115m spent on Jude Bellingham by Real earlier this year. While Paris Saint-Germain were initially the frontrunners for Diomande, Real Madrid ultimately secured his signature after rejecting a £102.5m bid.

If the deal is completed, Diomande would become the fourth most expensive player in history, trailing only Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Alexander Isak. He would also hold the distinction of being the most expensive African player, exceeding Arsenal's record £72m paid for Nicolas Pepe in 2019. Previously, Diomande was targeted by Liverpool, who had their £69m offer rejected in June as they search for a replacement for Mohamed Salah.

The teenager expressed gratitude to Leipzig fans and the management for making his move to Madrid possible, calling it a "childhood dream come true." Diomande's exceptional skills, including his explosive pace, dribbling, creativity, and attacking impact, have drawn the interest of several major clubs.
