Real Madrid secure Vinicius Jr with new long-term deal

Real Madrid has secured the future of Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr, extending his contract with the club until June 2032, the Spanish champions announced on Thursday. The 26-year-old Brazilian international has been a crucial figure in Real's attacking lineup over the past several seasons and had been linked with a move to English Premier League side Arsenal.

His previous contract was set to expire in June 2027. Real Madrid and Vinicius Jr have reached an agreement on a new long-term deal, which now secures his presence with the club through June 30, 2032. Vinicius has been instrumental in Real Madrid's recent success, scoring 128 goals and providing 100 assists since joining the club from Flamengo in 2018.

The extension of his contract removes the possibility of Real losing one of their most valuable players on a free transfer. Vinicius also had a challenging summer with the Brazilian national team, as they were eliminated from the World Cup by Norway in the round of 16. The forward has amassed an impressive collection of trophies during his tenure at Real Madrid, including two Champions League titles and three LaLiga championships.

Under Jose Mourinho, who resumed his role as coach of Real Madrid in June, Vinicius is poised to further contribute to the club's continued success. The club has made several significant additions to its squad in recent months, bolstering their roster with the signings of winger Yan Diomande, midfielder Bernardo Silva, center-back Ibrahima Konate, left-back Marc Cucurella, and wing-back Denzel Dumfries ahead of the new season.
