Police probe South Korea FA over World Cup coach appointment

Seoul, South Korea - The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has extended invitations to 164 countries, including North Korea, for the 2027 World University Games set to take place in central Chungcheong provinces of the country from August 1-12, 2027, the organizing committee announced on Thursday. The committee, led by acting head Lee Jeong-woo, emphasized that all 164 member states of the FISU have been invited to participate in the international multisport event for university athletes.

Despite North Korea being a part of the FISU membership, the committee stated that they will adhere to the established procedures and timelines for North Korea's participation. The specifics surrounding North Korea's involvement are expected to be coordinated closely with the government and FISU. Each country's university sports federation must submit its intent to participate by September, followed by general entries specifying the number of competitors in each discipline by December.

The final rosters are scheduled to be finalized in April 2027, with individual entries to be confirmed by June 2027.
