PN not sweating possible seat clashes with BN in Melaka polls

Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) are not worried about the possibility of seat clashes during the Melaka state elections, according to PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man. The Islamic party's deputy head stated that despite the risk of disagreements during seat negotiations, the cooperation between BN and PN should remain intact. Man, speaking to FMT, emphasized the importance of maintaining this alliance, regardless of any minor issues that may arise.

During the recent elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, both parties reached agreements not to contest against each other in certain constituencies. Following these examples, Melaka BN chairman Ab Rauf Yusoh expressed the coalition's willingness to work with any party under a BN-Plus formula during the upcoming Melaka polls. However, he cautioned that any talks may not necessarily lead to an agreement.

Meanwhile, Syaza Shukri of the International Islamic University Malaysia suggested that PN could demand at least half of the 28 state seats up for grabs in Melaka, based on its strong showing in the 2022 general election.
