PMDC reschedules MDCAT; exam to now be held on Sept 20

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has rescheduled the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) from August 16 to September 20. This decision was made on the advice of the prime minister to ensure a smooth, secure, and transparent examination process. All other terms and conditions for the test remain unchanged unless otherwise notified.

Candidates are advised to regularly check the PMDC website and official communication channels for updates. Passing the MDCAT is essential for admission to medical and dental colleges in Pakistan. Approximately 200,000 candidates take the test annually, with around 25,000 securing seats in public and private institutions. Earlier this week, the health secretary of Azad Jammu and Kashmir met PMDC officials to address the issue of prolonged internet shutdowns affecting students' registration.

PMDC officials assured all possible support for the candidates. A subcommittee of the Senate Standing Committee on Health expressed concern over the MDCAT's conduct and increasing complaints from students in the previous month. Senator Anusha Rahman mentioned receiving around 1,000 complaints from students.
