Over RM3mil losses from telecom infrastructure theft for Pahang in 2025

In Pahang, the telecommunications sector suffered over RM3 million in losses due to vandalism and theft in 2025, according to Fadzli Kamal. The state communications and multimedia, youth, sports and non-governmental organisation committee chairman highlighted that the thefts disrupted communication services that are essential for daily life.

The stolen items included cables, batteries, communication equipment cards, diesel, and remote radio units, among others. Fadzli emphasized the importance of security measures, urging service providers to maintain locked gates at tower sites to deter such incidents. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission is working alongside the police to address these crimes.

Additionally, Fadzli noted that the state government is implementing regulations that require telecommunications service providers to submit photo reports detailing the condition of their infrastructure before renewing their licenses.
