Los Arcos Stadium Left to Rot as Orihuela Council’s Promises Collapse

Orihuela CF supporters have accused the city council of abandoning Los Arcos Municipal Stadium, alleging years of delayed upgrades, poor upkeep, and empty promises. Frente Eskorpión, the club's official supporters' group, claims the historic stadium is in "deplorable and precarious" condition, citing mold, trash, bird droppings, broken seating, cracked walls, damaged flooring, and rusting railings.

A plastic sheeting used during pitch work has been abandoned behind one goal for nearly two years. The aging South Stand is particularly concerning, with supporters warning of possible safety hazards. Changing rooms have also received little attention, despite Orihuela CF resuming training for the new season. The council has repeatedly promised improvements, with Sports Councillor Víctor Sigüenza initially stating new stands could be installed by summer 2026.

However, the project has not begun, and the council now admits completion may not occur until early 2027. Administrative delays, staff shortages, and other priorities are cited as reasons. Supporters are losing patience and are considering protests outside City Hall if no visible improvements or firm commitments are made by September.

Sigüenza disputes the supporters' evidence, suggesting some photographs may be outdated or AI-generated, claiming recent cleaning efforts were disrupted due to the Moors and Christians festival. He has promised a clean-up, repairs, and fresh paint before the season starts, but insists the stadium's decades of neglect cannot be resolved with temporary fixes.

The stadium has previously experienced structural collapses and often receives superficial repairs instead of major renovations. Orihuela CF supporters now demand safe facilities, proper maintenance, and a realistic timetable that the council will actually honor. They say, "Los Arcos is our home, and we are going to defend it," warning Orihuela City Council that the stadium must either be considered a valued public asset or another election promise left to decay.
