Kangar Police Chief Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop stated that the discovery of several ancient human bones earlier this week will be investigated under Section 302 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The police chief said the information about the bone discovery was received from a 61-year-old male vendor at 12:35 noon. The new discovery, he said, was made about 31.1 meters from the first location where bones were found on July 26. Yusharifuddin said the man was with his 29-year-old daughter, who had just bought the land about two months ago, for cleaning, leveling, and pesticide treatment at the ditch at 11 am.

"During the cleaning activity, the vendor found several unidentified bones protruding from the sandy soil covered with a bit of soil and a small ditch," he said in a statement to Bernama. Further investigation revealed that some bones were found with a pair of tattered boxer shorts, a pair of loose-fitting pants, and a waistband from a presumably abandoned piece of rope.

"The items have been sent to the Forensic Department at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar, Kedah for initial pathology analysis shortly after 4:30 pm yesterday," he added, noting that the preliminary analysis report is expected within a week. In connection with this, he requested any relatives who have lost a family member to visit the nearest police station or contact Investigating Officer Tengku Mohd Farid Tengku Ibrahim at 019-9939200.

On Tuesday, Yusharifuddin confirmed that the skeleton found in a bundle of sand in a backyard near a factory on July 26 was human.
