Klaipėda Container Terminal strengthens berth planning with Portchain Quay

Klaipėda Container Terminal, already utilizing Portchain Connect, is advancing its digital transformation by adopting Portchain Quay, according to a recent announcement by the terminal. This new implementation aims to bolster berth planning procedures through a shared, real-time planning platform. The terminal's digital shift, initiated with Portchain Connect earlier this year, now extends to optimizing operational processes via Portchain Quay.

This system consolidates berth, crane, and gang planning into a centralized environment, replacing outdated, fragmented manual methods. With real-time vessel tracking and planning scenarios, Portchain Quay empowers the planning team to make swifter, more informed adjustments, facilitating smoother operations. The enhanced system also provides Engineering and Operations teams with live updates, fostering internal collaboration.

Concurrently, Shipping Lines and other customers gain access to a live berth lineup, obviating the need for constant communication by email or phone. Vaidotas Šileika, CEO of Klaipėda Container Terminal, emphasized their ongoing investment in efficiency-enhancing solutions. He highlighted how Portchain Quay facilitates faster, more accurate decision-making, optimizes berth utilization, and enhances cross-terminal collaboration, thereby delivering a more dependable and transparent service to clients.

Thor Thorup, Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Founder at Portchain, expressed satisfaction at expanding their collaboration with Klaipėda Container Terminal, noting the terminal's progress in integrating Portchain Connect for shipping line collaboration. Thorup also looked forward to further aiding the terminal's digitalization of planning processes.
