German official denies reported ammunition find in suspected drone attack

German officials have refuted claims that ammunition was found in a suspected drone attack at the NATO logistics hub in Leipzig/Halle. According to Sen. Detlef Seif, a member of the parliamentary interior committee, all available information suggests the planes near the drone were not carrying weapons or ammunition. The Sueddeutsche Zeitung, along with NDR and WDR, had reported a confidential police statement citing a Ukrainian cargo aircraft near the drone carrying military ammunition.

Forensic experts also said the explosives attached to the drone were high military grade. The incident, described as a hybrid attack by Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, is under a counterterrorism investigation by German authorities. Leipzig/Halle Airport, a crucial cargo and NATO logistics hub, had found the drone on Tuesday, with flights suspended and several aircraft diverted.

Some German lawmakers have blamed Russia for the attack, although the perpetrators have not been identified yet.
