From cloud migration to citizen services: AppSquadz and India’s evolving digital transformation journey

India's digital transformation has advanced beyond simple digitization, with organizations modernizing their infrastructure and modernizing service delivery. Cloud technology has become central to this shift, transforming government departments, public sector organizations, research institutions, and enterprises.

AppSquadz, founded in 2014, recognized the changing landscape and expanded its role in the market. Customers increasingly sought cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and managed services. In 2019, AppSquadz became an official AWS Partner, deepening its cloud expertise. By 2020, the company achieved AWS Advanced Consulting Partner status and AWS Premier Tier Services Partner status.

AppSquadz's cloud transformation projects have primarily focused on the public sector, where reliability and scalability are crucial. For example, the company migrated legacy systems to AWS for the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), a nodal IT agency supporting multiple government departments. This migration enabled secure data management, application scalability, and continuous service delivery. Similar transformations were implemented for the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSeDC).

AppSquadz also supported the Common Service Centres (CSC) program, which delivers digital services through over five lakh centers across India. By building and managing a cloud environment, the company ensured reliable, scalable infrastructure to handle fluctuating demand without disrupting service delivery. The project highlights the importance of cloud infrastructure in India's digital public infrastructure ecosystem.

Trust is a critical aspect of cloud transformation. The Quality Council of India (QCI), responsible for national initiatives like the ZED Certification program and the DigiReady platform, needed a secure and resilient infrastructure. AppSquadz migrated and managed these platforms on AWS, creating an environment designed for reliability, scalability, and transparency. This implementation enabled the secure handling of large enterprise workloads while ensuring the integrity of certification and compliance processes.

Other organizations, such as the National Institute of Immunohaematology (ICMR-NIIH) and Mjunction Services Limited, have also benefited from AppSquadz's cloud expertise. AppSquadz developed a cloud strategy for ICMR-NIIH, leveraging AWS services like AWS HealthOmics to handle large volumes of genetic and molecular research data. The company also strengthened security for Mjunction Services Limited, a joint venture between SAIL.
