The Euro (EUR) trades marginally lower at around 1.1545 against the US Dollar (USD) during the European trading session on Friday. The major currency pair edges down as the US Dollar ticks up, while investors shift their focus to the United States (US) Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) data release on Friday.

Euro edges down, while US NFP takes centre stage

The Euro (EUR) experienced a slight decline against the US Dollar (USD) during Friday's European trading session. As the US Dollar ticked upward, investors turned their attention towards the United States (US) Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) data release scheduled for Friday. At the time of this report, the US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the Greenback's value against six major currencies, saw a marginal increase to near 99.73, still close to its two-day low of 99.63.

Investors are closely monitoring the US NFP data, as it will impact market expectations for the Federal Reserve's (Fed) monetary policy outlook. The US NFP report is anticipated to reveal that the economy added 80,000 new jobs in July, an increase from 57,000 in June. The Unemployment Rate is projected to stay constant at 4.2%. Average Hourly Earnings, a key indicator of wage growth, are expected to grow steadily at 0.3% and 3.5% monthly and yearly respectively.

Although estimates from the FXStreet economic calendar suggest stronger NFP figures than previous releases, a weaker-than-expected ADP Employment Change data for July casts a cautious backdrop for official employment figures. On Wednesday, ADP reported that the private sector added 44,000 new workers, less than the estimated 70,000 and the previous release of 98,000.

Meanwhile, the Euro remained relatively stable as traders awaited more information about the European Central Bank's (ECB) monetary policy outlook. The EUR/USD pair is currently trading at 1.1540, holding above the 20-day exponential moving average (EMA) at 1.1470. However, it remains close to the downtrend resistance line at around 1.1537, indicating a bullish near-term bias.

The Relative Strength Index (14) at 61.37 remains positive but below overbought conditions, suggesting that upside momentum is constructive without being stretched. An initial support level can be found at the 20-day EMA at 1.1470, while the pair may aim to extend its advance towards the May 29 high at 1.1686 if it stabilizes above the downward-sloping trendline at around 1.1537.
