Doku's new deal, Gonzalez to stay - what's latest on Man City transfers?

In a major Manchester City transfer update, winger Jeremy Doku has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract until 2031. The Belgian international, who joined City from Rennes for £55.4 million in 2023, will extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium. Sources have confirmed that Doku, who played 48 times for City last season, scoring eight goals, will officially commit to the club next week.

Doku's contract extension follows four other City players signing new deals this summer, including Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol, and Abdukodir Khusanov.

Belgian midfielder Nico Gonzalez, who joined City from Porto for £50 million last January, has struggled to secure a regular first-team place. The 24-year-old played 41 times last season and scored a crucial winner in the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton. Gonzalez has dismissed suggestions of a possible departure, stating he is content at City and wants to stay.

When asked about his future, Gonzalez said, "I'm happy here, I don't want to leave and I think the club wants me to stay." He added, "If we win, I'm happy. My dream is to win trophies."

With only one new signing, Elliot Anderson, so far this summer, City have remained relatively quiet in the transfer market. New manager Enzo Maresca has acknowledged the need for more activity but expressed trust in their transfer strategy. City sources have stated they are relaxed about the situation, emphasizing that the squad is young and exciting, having won both domestic cups last season. The club is still pursuing potential targets Pedro Neto from Chelsea, Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, and Geronimo Rulli from Marseille.
