Bournemouth sign Spanish right-back Juanlu

Bournemouth Football Club has announced the signing of Spanish right-back Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla for a potential fee of £11.1 million. The 22-year-old has a wealth of experience, having made over 100 senior appearances for Sevilla and representing his country in various international competitions, including the 2024 Olympic Games. Juanlu scored the match-winning goal in the semi-final against Morocco and played a crucial role in Spain's victory over France in the final.

The club's president of football operations, Tiago Pinto, expressed his delight at adding Juanlu to the squad, stating that the young right-back possesses excellent experience and is eager to compete at the top level. The Cherries will pay an initial £9.4 million for the Spanish international, with an additional £1.7 million in add-ons.

Juanlu joins Bournemouth on the strength of two other recent signings: Antonio Silva from Benfica for £25.7 million and striker Alvaro Rodriguez from Elche, also for £25.7 million. Manager Marco Rose is now focused on securing a number two goalkeeper to challenge the current first-choice, Djordje Petrovic, as the club prepares for a historic season, including their first appearance in the Europa League.
