Bengaluru: IISc student ends life in hostel room

On Thursday morning, a 19-year-old BTech student at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) named Rakshan was found unresponsive in his hostel room. Police discovered a handwritten note at the scene and are now investigating the circumstances that led to his death, which is suspected to have occurred on Wednesday night. The student's body has been sent for postmortem examination.

IISc expressed sorrow over the incident and confirmed their commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for students. They encouraged those facing emotional distress to seek help through their mental health support services. The institute's 24x7 emergency counselling service, online counseling facilities, and consultations with counsellors and psychiatrists are available through the Wellness Centre. Those in distress are urged to reach out to helplines like TeleMANAS, NIMHANS, and SAHAI.
