PETALING JAYA: Former Pakatan Harapan National Candidate for Negeri Sembilan, Dr Azizul Hakim Mahdi and his wife, Noor Ameeraa Rahmat, pleaded not guilty in Seremban Magistrate's Court to charges of operating an unregistered medical clinic. Both individuals, aged 35 years, appeared before Judge Shahrul Rizal Majid after the charges were read out.
The alleged offence is said to have occurred around 11:30 am on July 8 at a clinic located in Taman Bandar Senawang, based on a complaint from Sinar Harian. According to the complaint, the accused, who jointly owned a company, were found to be operating a private medical clinic without registration under Section 27 of the Private Medical and Health Services Facilitation Act 1998 (Act 586).
Consequently, the accused violated the provisions of Section 4(1) of Act 586 and committed an offence under Section 5(2)(a) of the same Act, which can be penalized under Section 5(2)(aa) and Section 34. If convicted, the accused could face a fine of up to RM300,000, imprisonment for up to six years, or both. Additionally, their company was found to be operating an unregistered private medical clinic under Section 27 of Act 586.
The charges were made under Section 5(1) of Act 586, which allows for a fine not exceeding RM500,000 if found guilty. The matter was set for a re-trial on September 17.
