Andy Reid Says Patrick Mahomes is 'Taking It to Another Level' After Injury

The Kansas City Chiefs anticipate a promising start to the upcoming season as quarterback Patrick Mahomes bids farewell to his season-ending injury. Following a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee, he has undergone months of recovery and rehabilitation, returning to training camp to the delight of fans, teammates, and head coach Andy Reid.

Reid highlighted Mahomes' unwavering commitment during a recent conversation with CBS Sports, noting that the player does not complain and diligently attends to his rehab both before and after practice. "He's all in," Reid emphasized, quoting Evan Washburn.

Reid explained that Mahomes has taken rehabilitation seriously, monitoring his progress and following the advice of doctors and trainers. The coach mentioned that Mahomes has adopted the work ethic of former Kansas City quarterbacks, including Travis Kelce and Alex Smith. During the offseason, Mahomes spent seven hours daily working on his game, demonstrating his dedication to returning this season.

Reid emphasized that Mahomes' attitude toward rehabilitation and preparation has been inspiring for his teammates, setting a positive example for the team.

Before his injury, Mahomes had thrown for 3,587 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, with a 89.6 passer rating that fell short of the league average. His absence last season also ended Kansas City's playoff hopes. However, with Mahomes back on the field, many believe the Chiefs could regain some of the glory from their previous Super Bowl-winning seasons.
