Adopt community engagement model for Ogoni oil resumption, youths urge FG

Youth leaders from the Niger Delta are urging the Federal Government and the Ogoni Dialogue Committee to implement the community engagement model used along the Eastern corridor of the Trans Niger Pipeline for resuming oil production in Ogoniland. This model, developed by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), serves as a successful template for the ongoing dialogue process.

Legborsi Yamaabana, spokesperson for the Niger Delta Ethnic Youth Leaders Forum and President-General of the Ogoni Youths Federation, states that the youths support oil resumption but emphasize the importance of being fully involved in the process rather than being excluded from it. PINL's Community and Stakeholder Relations General Manager, Akpos Mezeh, reports that operations along the TNP and Eastern Gas Network have remained largely uninterrupted, thanks to collaboration among security agencies, contractors, and host communities.
