LemonLime, an AI startup backed by Y Combinator, has faced backlash after its founder, Jordan Zietz, linked job interviews to tattoos at a company event. The event, intended as a networking exercise, saw seven attendees receive tattoos on the spot. Zietz had described the event as a way to meet "exceptional people" and identify those "just as crazy as we are."

Critics argued that the setup created a troubling dynamic, where job seekers felt pressured to undergo extreme measures for consideration. Zietz later apologized, admitting it was a "reckless" decision and stating that participants chose their own tattoos. LemonLime clarified that interviews were available to all candidates, regardless of tattoo choices, and offered to cover the cost of tattoo removal for any who regretted their decision.
