Tiba masa Umno jujur tentang kegagalan tadbir urus TH, kata KJ

Former Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin has called for the party to acknowledge its failure in managing Tabung Haji (TH) when it was in power, following the release of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on TH's management, operations, and finances. "It's time for Umno to be honest about the management failure" in TH, he stated.

Khairy criticized the argument that the RCI report does not prove any wrongdoing by political leaders, saying it is a "weak defense" that enables bad practices to become acceptable. He emphasized that admitting weaknesses and failures in TH management would be a step towards reform and recovery for Umno.

The 252-page RCI report, which investigated TH's management and operations from 2014 to 2020, has been classified and released, detailing how the organization concealed its true financial situation for years, reporting a profit of RM3.4 billion in 2017 when it should have recorded a net loss of RM1.4 billion – a discrepancy of nearly RM4.8 billion.

Shahril Hamdan, Khairy's associate, encouraged Umno to demonstrate maturity, humility, and self-reflection by acknowledging its shortcomings. He noted that the party's recent victories in the two PRN elections should not be seen as evidence that reform is unnecessary or that apologies are not needed. He warned that Umno must recognize that momentum can change when opportunities arise to do good.
