TechIreland launches Galway-bound National AI Challenge 2026

TechIreland has introduced the National AI Challenge 2026, which will take place in Galway. Applications for the competition are open until August 9, 2026, and participants will engage in two weeks of remote development, presenting their work at regional events on September 14. The strongest competitors will proceed to the TechIreland National AI Meet at Galway's Galmont Hotel on September 24, where their work will be judged by leaders from various sectors.

The challenge aims to address real business and societal problems through practical AI products, prototypes, and agentic workflows. This year's theme is 'AI and Agents: Strategy, Processes and Roles', emphasizing the shift from experimentation to implementation. The competition, now in its third year, has seen a significant increase in participation, with 300 participants expected, including developers, founders, students, and AI enthusiasts.

The AI Challenge is becoming an integral part of Ireland's AI talent infrastructure, providing opportunities for individuals to showcase their abilities and helping organizations identify the talent they need.
