Sudden showers hit parts of Hyderabad on August 5 after sunny morning

On August 5, 2026, the city of Hyderabad experienced a sudden shift from bright sunshine to heavy rain in several areas. After a largely clear morning, clouds began to gather in the afternoon, bringing rain to parts of the city by 3 p.m. The Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) reported rainfall amounts ranging from 6.3 mm to 9.8 mm in various neighborhoods.

Chintal recorded the heaviest rainfall of the day at 9.8 mm, followed by Allwyn Colony with 9.3 mm. Anandbagh received 8.5 mm, while Malkajgiri, Nacharam, Ghatkesar, Tarnaka, and Uppal all saw between 6.5 mm and 7 mm of rain. The sudden downpour transformed a sun-soaked morning into a wet and gloomy afternoon for many residents of Hyderabad.
