Rüstung: Hensoldt zieht bei Bosch ein und will Beschäftigte übernehmen

Hensoldt, a defense supplier, plans to establish a software and engineering center at a vacant Bosch facility in Leinfelden near Stuttgart. A cooperation agreement has been signed for the use of an empty building on Bosch's grounds, according to Hensoldt's announcement on Tuesday. The center will focus on software-controlled defense and is expected to create approximately 300 jobs in the Stuttgart region.

Employees from Bosch are explicitly encouraged to apply for the new positions, as Hensoldt seeks software experts and electrical engineers. Bosch is currently undergoing extensive layoffs, with plans to cut around 22,000 jobs in the supply sector in Germany over the next few years. Hensoldt's CEO, Oliver Dörre, stated that Bosch's expertise in software engineering will be actively utilized to successfully develop their new development site in Leinfelden.

This expansion represents another step in Hensoldt's collaboration with Bosch on employment matters. The defense company had previously offered new prospects to nearly 200 Bosch and Continental employees from the Stuttgart area and other locations last year. The company also agreed to cooperate with automotive supplier Aumovio to hire engineers who had lost their jobs due to layoffs in the research and development department.

Hensoldt, with a market capitalization of around ten billion euros, is significantly expanding its delivery and production capacities due to high demand in the defense industry. By 2026, the company aims to hire around 1,600 employees, representing a workforce growth of more than 16 percent.
