Russo Brothers Congratulate Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Box Office Record

Joe and Anthony Russo expressed their congratulations to the cast and crew of Spider-Man: Brand New Day for shattering Avengers: Endgame's box office record for the biggest domestic opening weekend in history. The Russos are set to attempt reclaiming that opening weekend record when their film Avengers: Doomsday premieres in theaters in December. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be available in IMAX theaters starting this Friday, August 7. While Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are enthusiastic about the record-breaking debut, IGN writer Alex Zalben expressed concerns in an op-ed, stating that "it clinches a feeling that's been bubbling for the past few years: The Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it is over."

Despite this, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which topped the international box office with its second-largest opening ever, has already surpassed $1 billion in worldwide box office earnings within a week. IGN's Tom Jorgensen gave the film a 7/10 rating, praising its focus on Spider-Man's inner struggles, action-packed scenes, and cool demeanor.
