Record-breaking heat, absence of stars lead to small crowd in Man City match in Seoul

Seoul witnessed a record-breaking heat wave, resulting in a sparse attendance for Manchester City's preseason friendly match against Team K League on August 5. The South Korean squad of K League All-Stars faced off against the English club at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, which has a capacity of 66,000 seats. The announced crowd of 28,306 was the second smallest attendance in the Coupang Play Series history, with the match being played under a severe heat advisory.

The stadium was only half full, and many fans opted to stay in the air-conditioned food court, cafe, and mall nearby. Manchester City defeated Team K League 3-1, with all four goals scored in the first half. The absence of Rodri and Erling Haaland, who were resting following their team's success at the FIFA World Cup, contributed to the subdued atmosphere.

Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri were among the standout performers, with the latter scoring both goals in the first half.
