Police arrest 13 for robbery, vandalism, unlawful possession of firearms

The Abia Police Command announced the arrest of 13 male suspects ranging in age from 20 to 27 years for various criminal activities, including armed robbery, vandalism of government property, and unlawful possession of firearms. Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the arrests in a statement. Recovered exhibits included firearms, ammunition, and other items that suggest involvement in criminal activities.

One suspect, Uchenna Agbneiwu, aged 27, was apprehended with a vandalized large galvanised pipeline and concealed within a white Toyota Hiace bus. Additional arrests were made involving Williams Ifeanyi, who was found with a pistol and live cartridges while allegedly stealing from a Point of Sale operator in Aba. Furthermore, John Chigozie and David Anyaka, both 25 and 26 years old respectively, were arrested for armed robbery at a hotel in Aba, with recovered firearms and ammunition.

The command also reported the arrest of members of a violent criminal group during a meeting, with various items linked to criminal activities recovered. The Abia State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and property, preventing crime, and maintaining law and order, urging the public to provide timely information on security concerns to the nearest police station.
