Nigeria's armed forces are set to receive the largest pay rise in years, with President Tinubu approving a salary increase of up to 80 per cent for 250,000 troops. The new structure, effective September 1, sees the military's annual wage bill rise from N660bn to N924bn. Meanwhile, South-East gunmen who had threatened to shut down hospitals from August 10 have called off their strike following a meeting between the Presidency and key ministers.
