Mixed doubles cheer for Malaysia at Korea Masters 1st round

In the opening rounds of the Korea Masters badminton championships, three Malaysian mixed doubles teams advanced to the last-16 bracket. Chen Tang Jie and Clarissa San, a new pairing, emerged victorious against their countrymen Low Han Chen and Chan Wen Tse, defeating them 21-19, 21-18 in just 35 minutes at the Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium in Asan, South Korea.

Jimmy Wong and Cheng Su Yin, who have demonstrated considerable skill in recent events, fought back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Japanese duo Kenta Matsukawa and Sumire Nakade, winning 14-21, 21-15, 21-10 in 42 minutes.

Malaysia's younger mixed doubles duo, Loo Bing Kun and Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan, made an unexpected appearance, outlasting the higher-ranked Indian pair Dhruv Rawat and K Maneesha 18-21, 21-14, 21-17 in a 50-minute match. Meanwhile, in the men's singles competition of the World Tour Super 300 event, Cheam June Wei, currently ranked 72nd in the world, showcased his prowess by defeating Singapore's 29th-ranked Jason Teh 21-13, 21-19.

This win secures his position in the second round, where he will face off against China's 49th-ranked player, Dong Tian Yao.
