Minecraft Is Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 Soon With an Upgrade Path for Switch 1 Owners

Minecraft is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this month, with owners of the older Nintendo Switch model being offered an upgrade path. Mojang, the game's developer, has confirmed that the Switch 2 version will launch on October 27th, boasting enhanced visuals and performance enhancements. These improvements will include the Vibrant Visuals graphics option, which will default on the Switch 2 version, resulting in improved lighting, shadows, and overall graphical upgrades. The Nintendo exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up will also receive this upgrade.

For existing Nintendo Switch 1 owners, Mojang has indicated that an upgrade path will be available, allowing them to enjoy Minecraft on the newer Switch 2 platform. However, it remains unclear whether the upgrade will be free or not. Regardless, Minecraft's presence on the Nintendo Switch 2 will undoubtedly bolster its already impressive library of platforms, further cementing its status as one of the most dominant games on the market.

The game is also expected to receive a significant update later this year, introducing a new biome, which will likely be available on Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
