Military Region 4 recovers 263 martyrs’ remains during 2025–2026 dry season

On August 5, the Steering Committee for the Search, Recovery and Identification of Martyrs' Remains under Military Region 4 convened a conference to assess the progress made during the 2025-2026 dry season. Lieutenant General Ha Tho Binh, the Commander of Military Region 4, was present at the event.

Throughout the dry season, the Steering Committee, in collaboration with provincial committees, city committees, and affiliated units, diligently pursued the objectives set forth by the "500-Day Campaign to Accelerate the Search, Recovery and Identification of Martyrs' Remains." This campaign aimed to swiftly locate, retrieve, and identify the remains of martyrs with unwavering determination and seamless coordination.

The units involved in the mission successfully recovered the remains of 263 martyrs, comprising 144 sets in Laos and 119 within Vietnam. At the conference, representatives reviewed the accomplishments, pinpointed ongoing challenges, examined their underlying causes, extracted valuable lessons, and proposed a suite of measures to enhance the efficiency of future search, recovery, and identification endeavors.

The participating units committed to meeting all designated targets and tasks, ensuring the dignified transfer, repatriation, commemorative ceremonies, and burial of the recovered martyrs' remains. They also promised to complete the collection of DNA samples, digitize records, and transfer samples from unidentified martyrs' remains stored in cemeteries throughout Military Region 4, in accordance with the approved plan.

In recognition of the outstanding efforts displayed by 13 collectives and 27 individuals during the 2025-2026 dry season, the Steering Committee for the Search, Recovery and Identification of Martyrs' Remains under Military Region 4 bestowed certificates of merit upon them.
