Migrant farmers’ school gets learning materials

The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP), Abia State Cluster 3, has recently donated various learning materials to the Migrant Farmers Nursery and Primary School in Aroayama Ndioru, Ikwuano Local Government Area, Abia State. The initiative is part of the program's community development efforts and aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The NJFP, funded by the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims to address community needs through the efforts of its fellows, who identify problems and contribute to solutions.

During the donation ceremony, Abia State Cluster 3 Coordinator, Mr. Matthew Ayantola, emphasized that community development is the core mandate of the program. Fellow members assess community needs and take action to address them. The fellows chose the Migrant Farmers Nursery and Primary School for intervention due to its poor condition and urgent need for improvement. Mr. Ayantola explained that the NJFP was established to equip young graduates with practical skills and encourage community service.

The Education Secretary of the local government council, Dr. Paul Udensi, praised the donation as timely and impactful. He recalled the deplorable state of many schools when he took office and appealed to philanthropists, corporate organizations, and NGOs for support in improving educational infrastructure. Dr. Udensi assured the community that the renovation of the Migrant Farmers Nursery and Primary School would commence soon.

Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Nwamaka Jonathan, expressed gratitude for the generous gesture, mentioning that the donation came at a crucial time when the school had used mats for learning. The provision of chairs and tables has improved the learning environment for the pupils.
