Man charged over alleged violent threats against Paralympian MP

Christopher Mark Whitty, 43, from Tascott, has been charged with threatening Gosford MP Leisl Tesch with violence. Whitty allegedly used Facebook to make violent threats, including a statement indicating his intention to physically harm the MP. Commonwealth prosecutor Nadia Deeb did not oppose Whitty's conditional release, stating that while she was concerned about endangering the victim or committing further offenses, these risks did not seem unacceptable at the moment.

Whitty has been granted strict conditions, including not contacting Tesch, not approaching her within 100 meters, and only possessing one mobile phone and SIM card. He is also banned from entering Gosford unless attending court. Whitty's lawyer, David Clarke, has proposed an additional condition for his client's mental health, requiring him to contact his GP and obtain a mental health care plan, potentially leading to a referral for psychological help.
