Infantino remains Fifa president after executive meeting

Gianni Infantino will maintain his position as Fifa president following a meeting of senior executives in Morocco, despite mounting criticism of his failed attempt to privatize the organization. The European football governing body, Uefa, expressed its loss of confidence in Infantino, labeling the proposed sale of commercial and event operations to private investors as "shabby, back room, opaque deal."

Secretary General Mattias Grofstrom, who attended the meeting, described the situation as "a sad and reproachable series of events" in an internal memo to Fifa staff. However, during a statement following the executive meeting, Grofstrom and the management board reaffirmed their unwavering support for Infantino as the president.
