‘I heard a volley of shots’: chilling footage shows suspect calmly walking into lawyer’s office before fatal shooting

Surveillance footage released Tuesday revealed the moments leading up to a lawyer's fatal shooting inside his office in Rishon Lezion, Israel. The 23-year-old suspect, who resides in Ramla, is set to appear in court on Wednesday to discuss extending his detention. The incident occurred on Rozhansky Street, in central Rishon Lezion.

Upon fleeing the scene, the suspect turned himself in at a police station in Ashdod. The victim was identified by his law partner, who noticed the gunshot sounds and then saw the victim lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Paramedics pronounced the lawyer dead at the scene, with no signs of life or a pulse.

Police stated that the suspect and victim were acquainted, with the confrontation stemming from a financial dispute. The victim's law partner revealed that the dispute revolved around the suspect alleging he had not received a compensation of 15,000 shekels (around $5,000) from a personal injury settlement. The victim's law partner claimed he had initially heard only a brief conversation between the two men before noticing the gunshot sounds.

The suspect's attorney, Oren Sasson, intends to request a psychiatric evaluation for his client. The victim's law partner described his colleague as an amazing person, humble, pure-hearted, and gentle, saying he had planned to travel abroad the following week.

Central District Police Commander Amir Cohen stated that the suspect was apprehended after extensive police searches. The investigation is being handled by the Shfela District's central major crimes unit. Authorities are working to locate the firearm used in the shooting and gather enough evidence to present the case in court.
