High School Football: Ohio State recruit Jamier Brown practicing with Wayne

Jamier Brown, a highly touted 5-star football recruit, is currently practicing with the Wayne High School Warriors. The rising senior, who has committed to play for Ohio State, transferred to Big Walnut High School in January 2026 to be closer to the university. Brown won three individual state championships while competing for Big Walnut's track team in June.

However, a July report by the Columbus Dispatch suggests that Brown may need to reapply for an exception from the Ohio High School Athletic Association to participate in a full football season at Big Walnut. It remains uncertain whether Brown will be eligible to play this fall. Brown has been very vocal about his support for a name, image, and likeness policy in Ohio, having been at the center of a lawsuit against the OHSAA during his time at Wayne.

In the Greater Western Ohio Conference, Brown finished second with 1,009 receiving yards last fall, catching 73 passes, 10 of which were touchdowns, and was also a standout on special teams with several kick and punt return touchdowns. Brown has expressed plans to graduate early from high school and join Ohio State's team next spring. Wayne coaches have declined to comment on Brown's situation.
