Code on Social Security-2020 is a boon for employees covered under ESCI scheme: Official

The Code on Social Security-2020, implemented by the Centre, has brought significant benefits to employees, contract workers, and their families, according to Rohit Kumar Sahu, Assistant Director of the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESICI). Addressing a meeting at Apitoria Pharma Limited, Sahu presented a pension certificate to the family members of Matsa Lakshmunaidu, a contract worker who died of a heart attack on March 6.

The pension certificate will now provide the family with a monthly benefit of ₹14,672, a result of the effective implementation of the Code on Social Security-2020, which amalgamated various previous Labour Acts.

Prajna, a senior official from ESICI, stated that employees covered under the ESCI scheme will receive financial assistance during sick leaves and medical facilities at various hospitals across the North Andhra region. Apitoria Pharma Limited representatives emphasized that all employees and contract workers are now included in the ESCI scheme, granting them access to all social security measures.
