Cloudflare launches Cloudflare OS: an open-source AI agentic workspace for the enterprise

Cloudflare Inc., the technology company, has recently introduced Cloudflare OS, an open-source AI agentic workspace designed specifically for enterprise employees. This browser-based platform is packed with custom shared micro-applications that cater to the unique needs of individual companies and their teams. Unlike other AI tools available to the enterprise, Cloudflare OS is built from the ground up to understand a company's specific operations, enabling employees to research, create documents, and build applications for their day-to-day work without depending on IT or development teams.

According to Cloudflare's co-founder and CEO Matthew Prince, Cloudflare OS is "how we run Cloudflare." The platform is designed to ensure that every employee can build, iterate, and automate safely, eliminating the silo and developer bottleneck that often hinders AI transformation in enterprises. By allowing employees to create custom micro-apps using their internal knowledge, Cloudflare OS facilitates seamless collaboration and ensures that crucial context is not lost.

The platform's open-source nature and ability to run on a company's own Cloudflare account give organizations full ownership of their built applications. Cloudflare maintains the processes, context, and internal system connections, preventing any lock-in to a closed product. This means that employees can quickly spin up smart applications with their isolated databases, real-time capabilities, access controls, and more, without waiting for IT or development support.

Cloudflare OS is designed to be zero trust by default, utilizing Cloudflare Access to verify every user and request before granting access. Additionally, organizations can utilize bring your own model through Cloudflare AI Gateway, allowing them to use any AI model provider. This flexibility enables administrators to control token usage, monitor spending, and set budgets, rate limits, or route tasks based on complexity, ensuring that they are not locked into a single vendor.
