Bella Thorne Recalls Escaping Disney Set With Zendaya to Hash Out Issues: ‘We Got Into It’

Bella Thorne reminisced about a time when she and co-star Zendaya, who had been best friends on the Disney Channel series "Shake It Up" from ages 12 to 13, sought solace and resolved their conflicts by sneaking out of the set. According to Thorne, discussions were often hampered by outside pressures from fans and the industry, particularly from those who felt women needed to compete with one another.

The actress explained that the feedback became so intense that she and Zendaya decided to "escape" from the set during a live taping of their crossover with "Good Luck Charlie." The two actresses, who had three scenes left before returning to work, decided to discuss their issues privately. Thorne described the conversation as one of the most genuine and empowering moments she had experienced in her career.

Moving forward, Thorne is currently set to star, write, and direct "Spring Breakers 2," a sequel to the original film that featured Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez in their early careers. Thorne believes that her version will be even more daring and fun, referencing the 2012 period as "exploitative." She emphasized that the new movie is "Litty, Litty McTiddies" and promises to be a thrilling experience for audiences.
