Armed man arrested at Trump’s LA golf course before president’s visit

On Tuesday, an armed individual was apprehended at Donald Trump's golf facility in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, two days prior to the president's arrival. The suspect, 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele from Downey, California, was apprehended on Sunday afternoon on the golf course grounds. According to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office, federal agents identified Taele as taking photographs and videos while monitoring security and planning activities.

Trump was set to visit the golf club later that evening for a Republican National Committee fundraising dinner. Upon Taele's arrest, law enforcement recovered a 16-round magazine filled with hollow-point ammunition from his pants pocket. A subsequent search of the suspect's vehicle yielded a loaded pistol with a single bullet chambered and an additional 16-round magazine containing hollow-point ammunition.

Officials from the sheriff's department and the FBI's counterterrorism unit subsequently searched Taele's residence, where they discovered an assault-style rifle, a pistol, a bulletproof vest, high-capacity magazines, ammunition, two radios, and numerous notebooks containing troubling statements. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office will determine whether to file charges following the presentation of the case on Tuesday morning.

Trump has faced numerous assassination attempts since announcing his candidacy for the 2024 election.
