Both leaders examined the latest developments in the region, particularly efforts to ease tensions between the US and Iran and bridge the gap between the two parties to enhance the prospects of a permanent diplomatic solution, as per the statement. Trump praised Qatar's role under Sheikh Tamim in supporting diplomatic efforts and easing dialogue between the parties, which he attributed to contributing to the strengthening of security and stability in the region.

Sheikh Tamim emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue and prioritizing diplomatic channels in handling the unfinished dispute. He also urged all parties to adhere to the understanding reached through the United States-Iran memorandum of understanding (MoU) and support international initiatives to curb tensions and strengthen regional and international security and safety.

Both leaders also discussed several common issues and reaffirmed the importance of continued coordination and consultation on regional and international developments. The US and Iran signed the MoU on June 17 and began talks aimed at reaching a lasting agreement. However, the talks encountered obstacles due to disagreements over security guarantees and freedom of navigation through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy supplies and trade.
