The Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry, however, argued that Kinalur is the ideal site due to its excellent connectivity and proximity to tertiary healthcare institutions. They emphasized that setting up the AIIMS there would benefit over two crore people from various districts and Lakshadweep, and boost the healthcare sector in north Kerala.
The chamber leaders vowed to meet Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and Health Minister K. Muraleedharan to express their concerns.
