49ers Add Help at Edge-Rusher as Training Camp Injuries Keep Mounting

The San Francisco 49ers have bolstered their pass-rush by signing veteran edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo, reports ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. This move reunites Okoronkwo with defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, with whom he played during their time together with the Los Angeles Rams. Okoronkwo, 31, spent the initial three seasons of his career with the Rams and had a brief stint with the Houston Texans before joining the Cleveland Browns for two seasons.

He subsequently played for the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2025 season but was sidelined for most of it due to a biceps tear. Over his 80-game NFL career, Okoronkwo has accumulated 143 pressures, 102 hurries, 22 quarterback hits, 17 sacks, 132 tackles, forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. The 49ers' defensive line, currently led by star edge-rusher Nick Bosa and emerging talent Mykel Williams, will benefit from Okoronkwo's addition.

The team also has other free-agent signings, such as Cameron Sample and Keion White, along with a rookie rookie Romello Height, though Height has faced a few injury issues.
