You cannot hide your ambition and expect people to vote for you – Asiedu Nketiah’s 2028 Message

NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has cautioned politicians against concealing their ambitions in a bid to gain public support. During an interview on JoyNews’ PM Express, the veteran politician, known as General Mosquito, stated that ambition is vital in politics, but the manner in which it is pursued is crucial. "Ambition is a very useful thing in politics. If you are a politician and you have no ambition, you are in the wrong profession," he remarked.

The speculation surrounding Nketiah's potential bid for the NDC's presidential slot ahead of the 2028 general election intensified. Nketiah clarified that he would declare his intentions when the opportune moment arrives. Employing the analogy of pregnancy, he explained, "How do you hide pregnancy? If you hide your intention to contest for a position, how do you campaign?"

He emphasized that once the right time comes, he will openly communicate his decision. When asked if his comments hinted at a future presidential ambition, Nketiah urged supporters and observers to wait until the appropriate time to make that determination. "Wait till the time you know whether I have ambition or I don’t have ambition," he stated.

As for his current political position, Nketiah mentioned that he has several options open to him, including remaining the national chairman, reverting to another party role, returning to Parliament, or running for the presidency. "Sitting here, I can choose to become the next national organiser of the NDC. There is no law that bars me. I can choose to become a general secretary again, and contest with my brother and very good friend Fifi Kwetey," he noted.

Nketiah reiterated that he has never ruled out any political position. "No, no, no, no, no. I have never ruled any position out in my life. I’m not ruling any position out."
