One notable difference was the streamlined process for ending a parking session. Under the current system, users must manually conclude their session in the app and remember to extend the duration if necessary. REP eliminates this requirement, as the session ends automatically when the vehicle leaves the designated area. This convenience was evident as the session terminated seamlessly upon exiting the parking lot, with charges displayed and deducted directly from the CashCard.
While REP is currently being tested, its full rollout to the public is not set to occur until January 1, 2027, alongside other ERP 2 features such as location-based and checkpoint charging. Until then, the Parking.sg app will remain in operation, and motorists without an OBU can continue using the app for parking management.
