Umno Kelantan terbuka kerjasama BN-PN, mahu ‘garis merah’ dihormati

Umno Kelantan's leaders have opened up to the possibility of collaboration with the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN), but stress that any partnership must be based on mutual understanding and must respect the 'red line' of both parties. Zawawi Othman, the party's spokesperson, stated that his faction would align with the highest party leadership's decision if such cooperative models as in Negeri Sembilan are implemented in Kelantan.

However, he added, political cooperation must be grounded in mutual understanding and cannot overlook the agreed-upon boundaries, especially when one party holds a dominant position.

Rozabil Abd Rahman, meanwhile, the leader of Umno Perlis, said there had been no talks with PN about cooperation in the run-up to the polls in Perlis. He added, BN, which has no seats in the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) of Perlis, is now focusing its efforts on strengthening the party in all DUN and Parliament constituencies. "In the situation where BN doesn't have any seats in the DUN of Perlis, we are working and focusing on all DUN and Parliament constituencies," he said.

Both Zawawi and Rozabil were asked about the possibility of BN-PN collaboration expanding to Kelantan and Perlis, two states dominated by PAS. In the last election, BN only won two out of 45 DUN seats in Kelantan, failing to gain any seats in Perlis.
