Base Power, a company specializing in home energy solutions, has raised $1 billion in a recent funding round to expand its Base Core home battery model. The battery, available in 39.2 kWh and 78.4 kWh capacities, is designed to provide uninterrupted power during outages and can remain operational for 36-72 hours, depending on configuration.

The device can be installed within an hour and operates effectively in extreme temperatures ranging from -22 to 122°F (-30 to 50°C). In addition to its outage protection capabilities, the Base Core can also reduce household dependency on the grid, potentially lowering electricity bills. The company's headquarters are based in Texas, and the new model is now available to homeowners in Texas and Illinois.

Priced at approximately $695 upfront, a $19 monthly membership fee, and an energy rate of 13.1 cents per kWh, the battery could prove to be a cost-effective solution for many households. With the expansion of plug-in home solar installations and growing interest in home energy storage, Base Power's success could signal a larger trend in the adoption of residential energy systems.
