The Pixel 11 series, released by Google, may carry a higher price tag compared to Samsung's Galaxy lineup, potentially challenging their reputation for offering value. However, Google's Pixel phones have consistently been premium enough to compete with Samsung's top-tier offerings. While the hardware of the Pixel 11 series appears competitive, the value proposition is now more focused on the software rather than the lower price.

The Pixel 11 series is expected to be launched during a Made by Google event on August 12 at 6 p.m. ET, with preorders opening on the same day and a retail release anticipated around August 20. The Pixel 11 will reportedly start at $899, the Pixel 11 Pro at $1,099, the Pixel 11 Pro XL at $1,299, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at $1,899.

This pricing almost mirrors Samsung's current lineup, with the Galaxy S26 starting at $899.99, the S26+ at $1,099.99, and the S26 Ultra at $1,299.99. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 costs $1,899.99, while the Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at $2,099.99.

While the Pixel 10 series had a starting price of $799 for the Pixel 10 and $999 for the Pixel 10 Pro, the Pixel 11 series starts at $899 for the standard version and $1,099 for the Pro model. Compared to Samsung's Galaxy S26 series, the Pixel 11 series offers slightly smaller display sizes, starting at 6.3 inches for the standard model and 6.8 inches for the Pro Fold. The battery capacity is also slightly smaller, at around 4,985mAh for the standard Pixel 11 and 4,800mAh for the foldable version.

The key advantage of Google's Pixel phones lies in their software experience. As Google controls both the hardware and Android, it designs features around its own devices and delivers major Android updates and Pixel Drops to Pixel phones quickly. For instance, Android 17 was rolled out first to the Pixel 6 and newer devices in June, introducing productivity upgrades, stronger security protections, and new features like Screen Reactions and built-in parental controls.

The June Pixel Drop brought custom Take a Message greetings, Gemini Omni video creation, Lyria 3 music generation, and Voice Translate.
