Spider-Man: Brand New Day Reportedly Cut a Scene With a Fan-Favorite Daredevil Character And It Might've Fixed a Plot Hole

Spider-Man: Brand New Day almost featured more cameo appearances from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, potentially resolving a minor plot hole. In the film's climactic scene, Spider-Man shields Jean Grey from a bullet fired by The Punisher, only to find himself gravely injured. Fortunately, Jean Grey uses her powers to save him, keeping him stabilized in the hospital until medical professionals can treat him.

However, fans have expressed concern over the fact that Peter Parker is unmasked while undergoing treatment, potentially revealing his secret identity to potential bystanders. In a leaked detail, it's suggested that a deleted scene may have addressed this issue. According to X user Juan (@JuanEditz), Claire Temple, played by Rosario Dawson, had a brief role in the movie.

The deleted scene allegedly showed doctors removing Peter's suit but leaving his mask on, to protect his secret identity. Peter would then wake up, still wearing his mask, and coincidentally run into Claire in the hallway, where they share a sweet interaction. Juan, however, was unsure if Claire was present in the room when the doctors removed Peter's suit.

The scene would have likely resolved fans' concerns about Peter being unmasked by strangers, as Claire likely understands the importance of maintaining a secret identity, having patched up Daredevil multiple times in the past. Currently, it's uncertain whether Claire Temple will return in future Marvel projects, such as Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.

Regardless, the film achieved the largest domestic opening in history, surpassing Avengers: Endgame, and is on track to generate over $2 billion at the box office, earning high critical acclaim.
