Sarawak mahu semua isu berbangkit MA63 selesai menjelang Disember

Sarawak's Deputy Premier, Douglas Uggah Embas, has urged Putrajaya to finalize all Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) issues by the end of December. The discussions on the full implementation of MA63 have been ongoing for nearly a decade, and it is crucial to resolve the pending matters promptly. According to a statement, Uggah made this statement during the second session of the MA63 Implementation Action Plan Meeting in Putrajaya, which was chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah and Sarawak, Mustapha Sakmud, who is the deputy chairman of the technical committee of the meeting.

The meeting, attended by representatives from the Sabah and Sarawak governments, including Deputy Premier Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Dr Sim Kui Hian, informed all the representatives that 13 matters have been fully resolved, while five have been resolved on an interim basis, and two others remain pending despite final decisions being made. Four issues are still under consideration, while five have been referred to the highest level in Putrajaya for further consideration.

Among the significant matters resolved by Putrajaya include the transfer of Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd to the state government of Sabah. Issues still under discussion include the expansion of the Malaysian Parliament seats in East Malaysia and the development of the Sabah-Sarawak border with Indonesia. Uggah stated that among the main issues discussed yesterday included the development of the Kalimantan border, the addition of state civil servants in Sarawak, Borneo-related integration of common services there, and healthcare and education concerns.

He said that Mustapha has directed all federal ministers and agencies to work together to prioritize the resolution of the delayed MA63 issues in order to expedite the full implementation of the agreement. Sarawak's government remains committed to working with the federal and Sabah governments to ensure a comprehensive implementation of MA63, in line with federalism principles while safeguarding the rights and interests of the people of Sabah and Sarawak.
